Canoeing
On November 14 and 14 Troop 259 practiced their canoeing skills at Lake Natoma and camped a Lake Folsom.  It was a beautiful weekend.  The sun was shining and there was very little breeze.  We saw many water fowl, including Mallard Ducks, Canadian Geese, and Red Headed Mergansers.  On Saturday, starting from Negro Bar, the Troop travelled west on the Lake, exploring inlets, islands, and the floating outhouse (locked).  On Sunday, the group went up to the Folsom State Prison boundary.  The lake was much narrower and the banks rocky.  Eventually, the Lake was becoming closer to a river, with a noticeable current.

At the Beals Point Camp Ground, the Troop set up the campsite, cooked, ate, and gathered by the fire.  Marshmallows were roasted and stories told.  It was a clear night with the stars easily visible.  In the morning, after breakfast, the Troop packed up and picked up litter around the camp, leaving it cleaner than when we arrived.
