Travis's Eagle Project My Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project was painting the house addresses on the sidewalk curbs for the South Pocket Homeowners Association. The purpose of this project was to ensure that all homes will be identified in case of emergency at night. The plan was to paint the background in white paint with a rectangular homemade stencil and the numbers will be painted in black using stencils ordered off the internet. The painted numbers will be very helpful for those houses that don't have lighted house numbers or where trees or shrubs block the numbers.
The project started on October 13, 2007, and the final house number was painted on December 8, 2007. The big group painting was done on October 27, 2007. The total houses visited was 378. If the family wasn't home, a flyer was left with a brief description of my project and my phone number if they wanted to have the house number painted on the curb. A total of 100 houses were painted, 121 had been recently painted by someone else, 113 were not home and didn't call after getting the flyer, and 44 people said they didn't want the number painted.
